Last night got to enjoy fireworks on the Hudson.
Just love this! Certainly puts fitness in perspective and as a healthy lifestyle choice.
Thank you groupon. Looks like Blair (and I because of his age) are signed up to do a 1 mile mud run. Looks like it’s the kids version of the Tough Mudder. Here is what it is:
Mini Mudders is our kid size version for 5 – 9 year olds. Mini Mudders is approximately a one mile kid size obstacle course. Adults must accompany 5 and 6 yr olds on the course. Each mini mudder will receive a t-shirt and a medal for completing the course. This is NOT a timed event and it is just for fun.
I think he will have a ball doing this and for some quality father / son time.
Now I know why Blair has been on this snake kick and giving me the third degree on why I should love them. This morning I get an email from his teacher with slides of their little friend. He went so far to tell his teacher that “I worked at the zoo taking care of snakes.” Enjoy the presentation.
Snake Release 2012
Ok, this is a pretty cool app. I found this to help build out flash cards that are cross device. They all sync to web, iPhones, and iPads. Pretty cool.
Such a proud moment. Blair raced his 3rd tri this year and was 3rd in his age group. After seeing him struggle swimming 75 yards in his previous tri and only completing 50 of it, I had major reservations of him doing 200. Then after watching him progress from all the swimming at camp and Big V, he was really getting the hang of it. Plus he recently joined swim team so that was a big, big help. Not only did he finish his swim, he did it in 5:33. He was out of T1 before I could even get a picture. Both his bike and run were so fast, we were wondering did he just turn around too early but he didn’t. One very proud moment and look at these splits:
His swim – 5:33 (200 yrd)
T1 – 2:07
Bike – Not disclosed to protect the “innocent” on the trail since there is a 15 MPH limit after all. (1 1/2 mile)
T2 – 0:21
Run – 2:41 (1/2 mile)
As you can tell, he just had a ball and makes his daddy so, so proud.
Our kids are our future and frankly, the parents need some tough love. My whole lifestyle change was to set a better example for my kids so this certainly hits a nerve with me.
